The differences between toughened glass and heat strengthened glass are as follows:
1. Surface stress
The surface stress of heat strengthened glass is: 24～69 Mpa
The surface stress of toughened glass is: 69～168 Mpa
2. Strength
Heat strengthened glass is usually 2 times stronger than ordinary glass of the same thickness, but not as strong as toughened glass
Toughened glass is about 4-5 times stronger than ordinary glass of the same thickness
3. Safety
When broken, heat strengthened glass will form larger and sharper fragments, which is not safety glass
When broken, toughened glass will form small blunt-angle particles, which are relatively harmless and reduce the risk of stabbing, and is safety glass
4. Heat stress resistance
Heat strengthened glass has better heat stress resistance than ordinary glass, but not as good as tempered glass.
Toughened glass has good thermal stability and can withstand a temperature difference of 2.5-3 times that of ordinary glass. The maximum operating temperature is close to 300℃ temperature difference, which is suitable for environments with large temperature changes.
5. Self-explosion
Heat strengthened glass does not self-explode, but toughened glass does
6. Flatness
Heat strengthened glass is better in flatness than toughened glass
